INSIGHT ONE: INVESTING IN REAL ESTATE
Investing In Real Estate
The insights for the next several issues will be largely from Larry Garrett’s book titled “Advanced Concepts of Common Sense Investing in Real Estate” His book may be purchased through McMath Realty.
My “Pillars” and “Insights” for successful real estate investing with the specific goals of minimizing costs while maximizing long term appreciation and limiting selling costs.
PILLAR 1: You should be excited and enthusiastic about investing in property to have fun and be successful.
Think of real estate as a sole proprietorship business. It is your business and you need to manage it as a business. Many people are comfortable with the idea of running their own business, dream about having their own business, and live for the time that they can become their own boss.
If you get excited about the idea of investing in real estate either as a home owner or as an investor, but hold back because you don’t know where to begin, these concepts will be a real learning experience for you.
The next seven “Pillars” will give you insights into effective real estate investing. But for now: “The real secret of success is enthusiasm. Yes, more than enthusiasm, I would say excitement. I like to see men get excited. When they get excited they make a success of their lives.” — Walter Chrysler
